Pinpointe - Release 37 (July 2019) - Overview

Release 37 adds some additional exciting new functionality and improvements.

The major areas of focus are:

  • Campaign Send: Send-time Restrictions - User can now specify a predefined set of send-from and reply-to email domains. At send time, if the database’s default domain does NOT match one of the predefined options, the system will reset the default for that particular campaign send and will offer the user the predefined list should they wish to select a different option.

  • Reporting: Date Ranges - Users can now specify a variety of pre-selected data ranges including custom ranges when viewing activity and statistical information for their individual databases and account summary.

  • Aggregated Campaign Stats : You can now select multiple campaign reports, and view the results as a single consolidated report. This improves our customers’ ability to review the efficacy of their email marketing efforts.

  • [Enterprise / Agency Edition Only] Admin: New Login Type - Enterprise customers can now designate a user as a “Crew Leader”. This new level of admin can log into a defined list of the Enterprise-controlled Pinpointe accounts, “masquerading” as the account owner for each. This will give the Enterprise customer the flexibility to allow one or more of their Designates the ability to manage a stable of accounts.

  • Numerous other bug fixes and enhancements.

Details

Here we cover the above items in more detail.

New Features

[PINPOINTE-1077] - Campaign Send: Define Picklist to Restrict Send-Time Send-From Parameters

Within the Account Setting section, the Account Owner can now specify a predefined list to be used for the send-from text, send-from domain and reply-to domain for the account.

The primary purpose of this feature is to ensure that only approved send-from domains may be used when sending campaigns. This feature can also reduce the chance of accidentally typing in an incorrect send-from when scheduling a campaign.

Setting the Default Pick-List of Send-From Options

Login to your account as the Account Owner. Then navigate to Account Settings -> Send-From Details

First, check the box for “RESTRICT SEND-FROM OPTIONS”, then click the “Manage Options” button.

Fig 1

You must then add at least one send-from text and send-from email address.  Reply-to address is optional.  If you wish to use a Reply-To address that is different from the Send-From, you can optionally enter it.

When ready, click “Add” button. You may add several Send-From / Reply-To combinations.

When finished, click “Close” and then “Save” on the Account Settings page.

Once enabled, the Send-From options will be restricted to your pre-defined pick-list when scheduling your campaign.

Limitations: This feature is not currently enabled / available for Split Tests or for Autoresponders.

Go to Campaigns -> Manage Campaigns, then select which campaign to Send.

In Step  #2 of the send process, the Send-From will be restricted to your custom pick-list:

[PINPOINTE-1351] - Reporting: Add Date Selector Ranges to Various Reports

User can now specify the reporting date range for the Activity Summary and Engagement reports in their “Database Statistics” section and for the Statistics Details and Engagement reports in the “Accounts Summary” section. Shown in Fig 1 below is an example of the Activity Summary report for the “Database Statistics” section.

These updates can be viewed by navigating to:

Statistics -> Database Statistics -> [View]   Select the specific database to View.

The new date selector will be available for “Activity Summary”, “Engagement”, and “Contact Summary”

You can view Account Summary Stats by date range here:

Statistics -> Account Summary

The new date selector will be available for the “Statistics Details”, and “Engagement” tabs

See Example Below - Fig 1

[PINPOINTE-1368] -  Agency - Integrated Login for Multiple (Customer) Accounts.

Enterprise / Agency customers may now directly login to their customer accounts through a single login ID. Previously, an agency or enterprise customer who had multiple accounts had to recall the user login credentials for each of their customer accounts and login to each separately.

With “Integrated Login”, our agency customers (and enterprises with multiple separate accounts) can now create a single account login which will display their respective customer accounts. From here, you can now easily login to the specific account with a single click (See below)

Agency customers and Enterprises with multiple accounts kindly request assistance from support@pinpointe.com to enable this feature for your associated accounts.

[PINPOINTE-1388] - Reporting: Report Aggregated Statistics from Multiple Campaigns

Four new reports have been added to the Aggregated Statistics from multiple campaign feature:

  • Device Type

  • Link Report

  • SPAM complaints

  • Unsubscribe Survey

To view and report the aggregate statistics from multiple campaigns as a single report, simply go to:

Statistics -> Campaign Stats, then select the campaigns to view together and select ‘Aggregate Campaign Stats’ from the pull-down menu:

Fig 1

The statistics report will then include the aggregated data for all campaigns selected.

Limitations: Not available for split test or Drip Campaign Statistics

Improvements

[PINPOINTE-1382] -Tracking: Improved Accuracy of  Clicks / Opens Tracking

The algorithm used to track both link clicks and email opens has been modified to improve count accuracy in scenarios where the recipient registers multiple clicks and/or opens multiple times within a few seconds. This is often due to anti-phishing filters.  For some customers this may result in a slightly lower number of Total Opens and Total Clicks but should not affect Unique Clicks and Unique Opens.

[PINPOINTE-1415] - API: SendCampaign() - added new sending options

Users may now send to multiple databases, lists and segments using the SendCampaign() API.

The API now includes these options for additional send time flexibility. For specific usage please check the API documentation available at help.pinpointe.com:

  • Ability to send to multiple databases

  • Ability to send to single and multiple tags (lists)

  • Ability to send to single and multiple segments

[PINPOINTE-1421]- Support: Upgraded /  Improved Customer Live Chat and In-App Support

The in-app support and customer live chat widgets have been consolidated and streamlined. The new presentation is shown in Fig 1 below.  Users can easily initiate a live chat session at any time.  If an agent is not available they will respond to the inquiry as soon as possible:

Bugs Fixed

[PINPOINTE-1426] - Contacts: Search Contacts Drop Down Menu not working correctly (Unsubscribe and AddAllToList)

This problem has been resolved.

[PINPOINTE-1287] - Custom Fields: ApplyDefaults is always Enabled if a field is edited

This problem has been fixed.

[PINPOINTE-1289] - Custom Fields: Creating custom fields with duplicate names is no longer supported.

This functionality has been updated. Previously the system permitted creating multiple custom fields with the same exact name, which could be confusing for customers. An attempt to create a custom field (whether a standard Global Field or user-defined field) that already exists will now result in a pop-up warning and a requirement to use another name. This check-for-duplication is case insensitive, so attempting to create “first-name” when “First-Name” already exists will result in failure.

[PINPOINTE-1459] - Fixed Custom Field pagination and Page sorting when viewing custom fields

This problem has been resolved.

[PINPOINTE-1371] - Trigger: Unable to create a new trigger campaign

This problem has been fixed. User can now progress through the feature steps and trigger is saved.

[PINPOINTE-1375] - API: Improved performance of Calls to DeleteSubscriber

The DeleteSubscriber() API call previously could on rare cases, result in a long delay updating certain list and database counters, which could in turn cause the application to appear slow for some users. This performance issue has been resolved.

[PINPOINTE-1377] - API: Improved performance of Calls to AddSubscribersToList (plural)

The AddSubscribersToList() API call previously could on rare cases, result in a long delay updating certain list and database counters, which could in turn cause the application to appear slow for some users. This performance issue has been resolved.

[PINPOINTE-1425] - API:  Improved performance of Calls to UnsubscribeSubscriber

The UnsubscribeSubscriber() API call previously could on rare cases, result in a long delay updating certain list and database counters, which could in turn cause the application to appear slow for some users. This performance issue has been resolved.

[PINPOINTE-1392] - Send: Cannot schedule campaign or Preview if Campaign Name includes an Apostrophe

This issue has been resolved. Campaign names can now include an apostrophe such as a possessive form of a noun, ie:  Bert’s Deli

[PINPOINTE-1461] - Updated Bounces and FBLs Processing for campaigns sent via Amazon

For customers who are sending via Amazon SES (“AWS”), some bounce and feedback loop responses from AWS were in a non-standard form and were not being processed properly.  This has been resolved and previous campaign bounces / FBLs have been re-processed with the updated rules.

[PINPOINTE-1408] - Editor: Globally Shared folders do not function in WYSIWYG Editor

This Issue has been fixed. Contents of shared image folder and subfolder(s) are now available to WYSIWYG Editor.

Fig 1

[PINPOINTE-1429] - Statistics: Sorting Email Campaign Stats that include batch/predictive sends don't sort correctly

This problem has been fixed. The various categories now sort correctly.

[PINPOINTE-1430] - Improve performance of list subscriber count updates.

This problem has been resolved. Various list counters were updated and other batch processing improvements were added to decrease processing time and avoid possible system slowdowns.

[PINPOINTE-1465] - Resolved Multiple Performance issues that occurred under very heavy load, particularly when using the API

These issues have been resolved. Various code modifications were deployed to improve the efficiencies of certain processes, and to identify and eliminate bottlenecks. These were causing occasional downtime for up to 5 minute intervals a few times a week on some server banks. This has been resolved.
