Pinpointe - Release 33 (January 2019) - Overview

Release 33, our first release of 2019, adds some exciting new functionality and improvements.

The major areas of focus are:

  • New campaign scheduling options. Auto-batch and Predictive Send are two advanced scheduling options that have been shown to improve results by up to 18%.

  • Pinpointe Teams - Sub-User Permissions.  Now Pinpointe is even better for teams! If you have multiple team members, each with different roles and responsibilities, you can now  control the security and access permissions for each account user. For example, you can easily set different levels of access to contacts, campaigns and reporting.

  • Campaign Builder improvements. We continue to improve the user interface, minor glitches and email rendering.

  • Campaign Builder- Image Editor.  Unfortunately Adobe discontinued the editor which we previously incorporated, with only a few days advance notice to the industry. The image editor has been temporarily removed - rest assured we will be adding a new and improved image editor in an upcoming release as soon as possible.

  • Improved Importing Process. We’ve updated the Import Wizard to make it more flexible, and better at guesstimating field mappings when importing.  In coming releases we will now be able to add the ability to add on-the-fly custom fields and the ability to let the import run in the background for larger imports.

  • Improvements to the API - new API calls and performance improvements, plus the addition of Webhooks.

  • Numerous other bug fixes and enhancements.

Details

Here we cover the above items in more detail.

New Features

[PINPOINTE-684] - A.I. Predictive Campaign Scheduling

Users will also have the option of allowing Pinpointe’s new optimization feature to calculate the best delivery time for each contact based on that contact's previous engagement history. If the contact is new and no history exists, the campaign will be delivered as soon as possible.

You may view a video on this new feature by clicking on the opening video screenshot below.

[PINPOINTE-635] - Auto 'Split into N Batches' option at Send Time

User now has the capability to break large campaign sends into multiple batches and set the delay between each batch. This can help to improve deliverability on large sends and for those sending domains that are new and lacking in sending history.

[PINPOINTE-1015] - Subusers - Ability to set access restrictions for contact management, campaign management and reporting

Customers now be able to set restrictions on how individual subusers may interact with certain aspects of the account:

  • Contacts

  • Campaigns

  • Statistical Reporting

The account owner (primary user) will be able to grant one of three access levels to each of the above three categories:

  • No Access (Selecting No-Access will de-select both of the other two checkboxes below for the specific sub-user)

  • View (Read-Only)

  • Manage (read/write/edit/delete as appropriate)

[PINPOINTE-689] - Updated Import Wizard - Improved User Interface

Pinpointe is introducing a new contact import wizard which will simplify the process of importing contacts and provide a better, more fluid user interaction.

[PINPOINTE-1207] - Updated Import Wizard - Improved Field Mapping

As part of the new contact import wizard, Pinpointe has introduced a simplified version of its Field Mapping tool.

[PINPOINTE-1184] - API: Function to get all new or updated subscribers from a list

API to manage contacts between Pinpointe and in-house CRM. Provides the ability to query which contacts have been added or updated since user last performed a check. Presented below is a representative example of the XML call structure.

[PINPOINTE-1223] - New Webhooks for unsubscribe, bounce, Feedback Loop data

Added webhook URL functionality for “near-real-time” syncing of bounce and unsubscribe events back to your external CRM tools. If you require the Pinpointe webhook feature activated for your account, please contact our support staff via support ticket or by emailing us at support@pinpointe.com.

[PINPOINTE-1149] - Stats: Heatmap: Add 'Engagement (Click/Open ratio) Heatmap

A third heatmap chart showing campaign engagement activity has been added to the two existing charts displayed on the primary dashboard page for all user accounts.

Improvements

[PINPOINTE-1209] - Make Campaign Stats visible immediately after campaign has started sending

Statistical information will now be available for review immediately after a campaign has started sending and will be updated accordingly. Previous method of operation was to wait a certain amount of time before making the data available.

[PINPOINTE-1098] - API: Fix performance issue - incrementing counter on multiple addsubscriberstolist()

The processing frequency and timing has been modified for this API call to substantially reduce the risk of a denial of service situation due to overloading the system.

[PINPOINTE-1065] - Headers: Modified header field that caused malware filters to occasionally unsubscribe contacts

Email headers were modified so as to greatly reduce the risk of certain malware filters incorrectly flagging an email contact for unsubscribe.

[PINPOINTE-1227] -Builder: Update font setting and placement on WYSIWYG toolbar

  • Increased available fonts sizes in D&D Builder to include 48 / 60 / 72 / 84 / 96 pt.

  • The small WYSIWYG toolbar has a greater range of area it can be moved to so as not to block email content while editing.

[PINPOINTE-1242] -Builder: Image editor has been temporarily removed (discontinued by Adobe)

Images can not currently be edited within the Builder due to a discontinuation of the third-party application provided by Adobe. Replacement editors are being reviewed.

[PINPOINTE-1236] - Improved accuracy of bounce processing

Bounce processing methodology has been been modified to improve the filtering of bounce parameters which results in improved reporting accuracy.

[PINPOINTE-1198] -Unsubscribe now says “Subscription Preferences Updated’ when user who has already unsubscribes, unsubscribes again

Pop-up message has been modified to reduce confusion on the part of those contacts who unsubscribes a second time.

Bugs Fixed

[PINPOINTE-1191] - Builder: Very large emails would occasionally cause lost campaign

This problem has been resolved. Range has been increased to allow very large email campaigns.

[PINPOINTE-1217] - Builder: Column Font Face, Bold/Normal did not work; strike-through does not 'undo'

These issues have been resolved. Font face and font styling selection in Column Options module control panel are now active. Strike-through styling is now “undoable”.

[PINPOINTE-1218] - Builder: Changing the font style (bold, italic, strike-through) for a Title object reset the font face. This problem has been fixed. Changing font style of Title object in left-hand Columns Module control panel or using the small WYSIWYG toolbar no longer resets font face.

[PINPOINTE-1271] - Builder: Entering a link did not always check to prepend ‘http://’

Underlying issues have been resolved.

[PINPOINTE-852] - Schedule Campaign no longer permits entering an invalid address

When scheduling a campaign), it is no longer possible to enter an invalid or null email address for send-from and / or reply-to.

[PINPOINTE-1182] - Some social accounts did not generate a proper link. Now corrected.

This issue has been resolved. All social account entries now generate appropriate links for valid accounts.

[PINPOINTE-1202] - Changing account’s default send-from incorrectly also changed Contact Email and Name

This problem has been resolved.

[PINPOINTE-1208] - Split Test Campaign - Google Analytics tracker settings have been corrected

This problem has been fixed.

[PINPOINTE-1228] - View Contacts for a segment displayed ALL contacts in Database; not just those segmented

This issue has been resolved. This was an in-app display issue only and did not affect the actual segment filtering and sending rules.

[PINPOINTE-1235] - Surveys - Ranking Questions numbers started at 0 or -1

This issue has been fixed. Question numbering now starts at “1”.

[PINPOINTE-1257] - API: Improved Subscriber Counts Logic (performance + accuracy)

This problem has been resolved. The API now updates the list (tag) count and processes the addition of the subscriber correctly.

[PINPOINTE-1286] - When Importing - Format for subscribers defaulted to 'Text' mode

On import of contacts, if format is not specified in CSV file, the default format will be set to HTML.

[PINPOINTE-1294] - Split Test: If format is blank - incorrectly assumed Content Type = Text (Should assume HTML)

If a contact in your database did not have a value assigned for email format preference (Text or HTML), then when sending a split test, the user would receive only the text version. This issue has been fixed. If no format selected, the HTML version of the email will be sent.
