Pinpointe - Release 44 (May 2020) - Overview

Release 44 adds some new functionality and improvements

A few of the major improvements are:

  • The ability to import large contact lists as a background process, thereby allowing the user to work concurrently in other areas of the application.

  • The addition of several new variablized fields in both the D & D Builder and the WYSIWYG Editor. These fields expand the ability of the user to gather campaign- and contact-specific information for a campaign send.

  • The addition of database-specific campaign statistics when the user sends to multiple databases during a single send event.

  • Improvements in the speed of returned results when doing contact searches on large databases.

New Features

[PINPOINTE-1200] - Import Wizard: Run the Import Process in the background. Update customer when completed.

Users may now run the contact Import Wizard tool in the background, allowing them to perform other tasks while the system completes the import. This is targeted at and especially useful for users importing large lists of contacts where the import may take more than a few minutes to complete. The system will also warn a user with pop-up messages if the user tries to perform certain functions (such as trying to send a campaign to the database which is the target of the import) which would result in a data conflict. Fig 1 below shows the new button on the last page of the import process that allows selection of importing in the background.

Fig 1

Fig 2 - 5 below show examples of the various pop-up warnings a user might receive if trying to perform a restricted action during a background import.

[PINPOINTE-1691] -  Campaign: Add several new send-time / dynamic variables

A new series of insertable variables has been added that a user may include inside their email templates. In addition to providing more variablized content for the templates, these resulting variable values can be tracked with the appropriate applications within the user’s own internal system, thereby providing valuable data including more refined engagement information. Figure 1 below shows the Insert Variable drop down list that is accessible when a user clicks on a text block.

Fig 2 below shows the new insertable variables that have been added to the existing set:

Fig 3 below shows an example of an email template in the builder with several of the new variables.

Fig 4 below shows the resulting email in a recipient’s inbox.

[PINPOINTE-1684] - Send Campaign: When sending to multiple databases, produce summary stat and a separate stat for each database in the audience

A user who sends a campaign to multiple databases will now be able to see the campaign stats broken down by database and aggregated, much like the current stats presentation for a campaign sent in batch mode. Fig 1 below shows the overview campaign stats before expansion by clicking the green “+” icon to the left of the campaign name.

Fig 1

Fig 2 below shows the stats overview in expanded mode.

Fig 2

As with batches, a user may view the detailed stats per database or view the aggregate stats for all combined databases for this campaign send by clicking the respective “View” link to the far right of the campaign row.

Please note this aggregated database reporting feature currently applies to “normal” campaign sends only, and is not applicable for drips, triggers, or split tests.

Improvements

[PINPOINTE-1764] -  Contacts: Searches for all contacts -- significant performance improvement when searching for a large number of contacts

A modification has been made to how the application retrieves and displays contacts when a very large database is selected. The result was a material reduction in processing and display time.

[PINPOINTE-1345] - Users can now easily add a new contact to a List

Process has been improved to eliminate the “Contact Exists” error message on the Add New Contact page when the user attempts to add a contact from a database to a list (new or existing). Fig 1 below shows the previously displayed error message that has been removed.

Fig 1

[PINPOINTE-1663] -  Improved handling for Preference Centers and tracking of 'Unsubscribe from Lists'

System will now track and honor when a contact unsubscribes from a list via an unsubscribe form, so that even if that contact is reimported into the application and added back into that list, they will remain unsubscribed from it.

[PINPOINTE-1737] - Campaign Queue was missing the column 'Account' when viewing as admin

This issue has been resolved.

[PINPOINTE-1675] - API/connector: Add API and connector Information under Account Settings Tab

The user may now verify whether or not they have previously requested an API Key from Pinpointe Support by navigating to the appropriate section within Account Settings.

Fig 1 below shows the location of the Account Settings access link.

Fig 2 below shows the API Key section within the Account Settings feature.

Note: The actual API Key in this example has been grayed-out for security reasons.

Bug Fixes

[PINPOINTE-1761] - New/Updated Default Send-From address in Account Settings does not populate fields correctly when new Database is created

An update to the user’s account-level send-from address in Account Settings will now be used as the database default send-from address when a new database is created thereafter.

[PINPOINTE-1718] - Import: Mapping Step requires 'Select All' checkbox to enable overwrite; individual checkboxes do not update

This problem has been resolved. Fig 1 below shows the Import Contacts page with individual custom field checkboxes checked but the all-inclusive “Overwrite” checkbox at top of column remains unchecked.

Fig 1

[PINPOINTE-1739] - Contacts Import showed 3 different values for total numbers of rows imported

This issue has been fixed. The “Import Summary” report displayed at the conclusion of an import now displays consistent data. See Fig 1 below for an example of the “Import Summary” display.

Fig 1

[PINPOINTE-1733] - Date Fields Incorrect: Edit Contact; Displaying variable

This problem has been resolved. Date field formats in the D&D Builder and WYSIWYG Editor now display in the correct format.

[PINPOINTE-1750] - Split Test - Split Test feature was disabled by default on the previous update

This issue  has been fixed

[PINPOINTE-1775] - DND Builder - Social - All Variable Social Links show the Yellow Exclamation, even when correctly configured

This was a temporary issue that has been resolved. Correctly configured social account links no longer result in a “false” warning being displayed in the Builder.

[PINPOINTE-1767] - Builder: External image links are reverted to placeholder images

This issue has been resolved. The user can now insert external image links in the Image Container URL field in D&D Builder. Fig 1 below shows an example of using an external image link as the target URL.

Fig 1

Fig 2 below shows the resulting rendering of the image in the Builder.

Fig 2

[PINPOINTE-1701] - Sending: Additional enhancements for SendByTimezone (“TimeWarp” feature)

This issue has been resolved. The system now has an improved ability to deduce a contact’s timezone based on partial information supplied as the contact information for that custom field.

[PINPOINTE-1702] - Statistics - Database Statistics - Activity Summary - Sends data is not correct

This problem has been fixed.

[PINPOINTE-1738] - Stats: Export Detailed Stats from Drop-Down Menu on the stats screen, resulted in empty data file being downloaded

This issue has been fixed. For certain types of campaign sends, such as batches, selecting Export Detailed Stats from the drop down menu on the Email Campaign Statistics page resulted in a CSV file with no data other than column (field) headings. Fig 1 below shows where this option is accessed in the application.

Fig 1

[PINPOINTE-1766] - Stats: Bounce column is missing from Stats -> Campaign Stats

This problem has been resolved. Fig 1 below shows the Email Campaign Statistics page with the incorrectly displayed “Owner” column in place of the “Bounces” column.

Fig 1

Fig 2 below shows the corrected display with the “Bounces” column.

Fig 2

[PINPOINTE-1672] - API: AddSubscribersToList - List (database in app) count in app fails when specifying a contact-specific list_id in call

This problem has been resolved. The GUI-based application now reports the correct list count whether a global list (tag) ID is entered into the API call, a contact-specific list (tag) ID is specified, or both. Fig 1 below shows the portion of the API call where both the global and contact-specific list (tag) IDs can be entered.
